Violeta by Isabel Allende is a 100-year epic (1920–2020) told as a letter from an elderly woman named Violeta Del Valle to her grandson, Camilo. Born into a wealthy South American family during the Spanish flu and ending during the 2020 pandemic, Violeta survives the Great Depression, political turmoil, abusive relationships, and heartbreak to become an independent business owner.
